Where to Ice Skate in Southern California
The holidays are over, but winter isn’t! And if you still want to participate in the traditional cold-weather activity of ice skating, you can. San Diego is typically known for its sun, surf and ocean sports, but there are a few local places to get your skate on! Many of the rinks offer lessons and public skating. Some may offer sports like hockey and curling as well if you’re interested in trying something new or getting back to something you love! Finish off your icy day with some hot cocoa and a roaring fire!
Carlsbad Ice Town. Located in Carlsbad, Ice Town offers public skating, youth and adult hockey and skating classes. You can even rent the ice for your own event!
Kroc Center. Run by the Salvation Army, the Kroc Center in San Diego hosts an ice rink that is open for public skating, youth and adult hockey and figure skating. The Kroc Arena is the only year-round facility in the heart of San Diego.
San Diego Ice Area. This family-owned chilly spot offers daily public skating, skate rentals, a birthday party program, ice hockey for all ages, figure skating and a skating school for toddlers. San Diego Ice Area is located near the 15 and Mira Mesa.
UTC Ice. What makes UTC Ice Sports Center so much fun, is that it’s located inside the Westfield UTC Shopping Centre. They offer free introductory classes, youth and adult hockey, figure skating, holiday events, ice polo and they even have their own hockey team…go Piranhas!
The Rinks. The Southern California Anaheim Ducks sponsored skating The Rinks has a location in Poway. There you can find hockey, figure skating and public skating. In January 2022 they hosted the 2022 US Figure Skating Championships!
