Instagram-worthy Photo Spots for Your Graduating Senior

There’s no end to the beautiful backdrops in San Diego. And as the school year finishes for your senior children, you’ll no doubt be looking for amazing Insta-worthy spots to snap pictures for senior pics, graduation and prom. Read through this list and then do a little dry run before you go on the big day to scope out parking, ease of access, potential crowds and the perfect picture spot for your very special senior.

Balboa Park. There are so many picturesque places in Balboa Park, but some of the prettiest places are the koi pond outside the Botanical Garden, in front of a public art piece, the Spreckels Organ Pavilion (if there isn’t a concert!) or in one of the many gardens scattered throughout the area.

Chicano Park. Under the Coronado Bridge is home to Chicano Park, one of the area’s newest National Historic Landmarks, designated in 2016. There you’ll find fantastic, colorful painted Mexican-American murals on the bridge supports and walls.

Old Town San Diego. History, culture and beauty combine in this gem of a photo framework. Brightly colored shops throughout Old Town compete with historic buildings for the background including a centuries’ old schoolhouse – the first public school in San Diego County – which would be a perfectly symbolic spot for a grad photo.

Scripps Pier. If your photo subject doesn’t mind getting a little wet, head beneath Ellen Browning Scripps Memorial Pier for the ultimate Southern California backdrop. One of the largest research piers in the U.S. its symmetrical pilings look like they go on forever. Hint: Check the tide calendar before you go!

The beach. With miles and miles of sandy shores, go back to your favorite family beach to shoot your precious subject there. Don’t be surprised if a few tears form as you think back to days you visited this beach with a preschooler.
