Spring is a time of rejuvenation and starting fresh, and taking stock of what needs to be done in your home is one of the best places to start. It’s the time of year to clean out the cobwebs and give areas around your house a little special attention so they run well and look great for the rest of the year.
The garage. During the winter which can bring our infamous Southern California winds, your garage can easily become a resting place for debris, leaves and dust. Give all the floors and corners a good sweep and wash. Dust off any bins you have in there and make all necessary repairs.
Outside the house. Like the garage, the back and front garden can become a messy deposit spot for items that blew around during the winter. Give the yard a good rake, do some seasonal maintenance, plant some flowers and top up your soil levels in your planter beds. Replace or clean out bird feeders and bird baths as well. If you have a fountain, ensure your pump is running smoothly.
Check your HVAC equipment. To avoid your air conditioning going on the fritz during the hot summer months, take time now to get it serviced or repaired. If you choose to participate in your energy company’s credit program – or plan to stop – let them know ASAP especially if you have equipment they need to remove or install.
Purchase your summer toys. If you plan to restock your pool toys, want to buy a little kiddie pool or upgrade backyard furniture, start now. If you wait too long your choices will be limited or there will be nothing left in the stores!
